Creating a Culture of Health in at Risk Communities

Fighting health disparities in multicultural communities is part of AHA’s mission, but many Americans are unaware of just how adversely impacted African Americans and Hispanics are when it comes to cardiovascular disease and stroke.

How do we begin to build a culture of health in our communities?

  1. Reduce sugar sweetened beverage consumption
  2. Promote increased physical activity
  3. Promote a better chain of survival through lifesaving skills like CPR training
  4. Reduce sodium consumption
  5. Eradicate food deserts
