Six Tips to Make Your Fitness Resolutions Stick

The only thing harder than starting a healthy lifestyle is sticking to it! These steps from trainer Dre Nichols-Everett will help prepare your mind to change your body and stick to it.

Develop a burning desire.

Once you decide to give all that you have to your health, you’re ready to accomplish anything.

Exercise appointments = part-time job.

Set your own workout schedule and stick to it like a part-time job. You’ll get paid with a fit, healthy body.

Start slow and low.

Start by working out twice a week for 30-50 minutes tops! Doing this will decrease your chances of quitting. Start slow, then build yourself up to a more intense workout. Remember: You didn’t gain weight overnight and you won’t lose it overnight!

Track your progress.

Take a picture on the first day and put it on a mirror to remind you of a place where you don’t want to return. Every 30 days, post an updated picture and check your hip, waist, chest and thigh measurements. To hold yourself even more accountable, post your pictures on social media. You won’t want to let others down.

Use your jeans.

Note your weight once a week and then try on those jeans that you would like to fit in. Then you can really see how close you’re getting, even if you’re not losing weight as fast as you would like.

Explore your exercise options

If you like to walk, add some light ankle weights. If you like to dance, try a Zumba class!
