Weight Training with Resistance Bands

Resistance bands can help you lose weight, build muscle, improve your bone health and maintain your overall fitness. Many people use resistance bands as an alternative to free-weights because they mimic the weight training benefits of hand weights and dumbbells. They are versatile, lightweight, inexpensive and easy to use while traveling.

To lose weight you should work out with the resistance bands with little resting period in between your upper body, core and lower body workout. This will keep your heart rate elevated and burn the maximum calories.

While standing and holding the ends of the bands in your hands you can perform the same exercises you can with weights. Examples include bicep curls, shoulder and chest presses, triceps extensions and squats. If you’re a beginner, start with one set of at least 12 to 15 repetitions for each exercise. As you advance, work your way up to two, then three sets each.
