Whether you’re vacationing with family or taking a business trip, travel can throw off your exercise and diet. Stick to these five tips to stay energized, healthy and fit.
Take your workout with you.
Bring simple exercise items that you use at home. A jump rope, resistance band and your favorite workout DVD take up less room in your suitcase than a blow dryer and will allow you to work out in your hotel room.
Walk it out.
Take advantage of your vacation spot by seeing it on foot. Ask your hotel concierge about sights, restaurants and parks within walking distance. If the route is under a mile, then you can walk.
Make the right choices when dining out.
Experiencing new cuisine is often irresistible when traveling to a new place. Treat yourself on vacation but make sure you eat smaller portions and be mindful of snacking between meals.
Remember to pack your favorite healthy snack. Healthy, easy and non-perishable items can keep you from grabbing something unhealthy on the go.
Drink plenty of water.
If you’re flying, the lack of humidity in the cabin air can dehydrate you. Try to drink a glass of water for every hour on the plane. If you’re taking a road trip, bring a water bottle to fill up at rest stops to help you resist the temptation to buy a sugary beverage.
