Who are the EmPOWERED Ticktockers ?
They’re members of a national professional leadership initiative to help young National Charity League members become powerful catalysts for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. They’re making a difference by working to improve people’s health in communities around the country.
Joining the EmPOWERED Ticktockers is a great way for young members to remain connected to NCL activities as they transition into their professional careers. Ticktockers range in age from young women nearing high school graduation to college juniors who share a passion for service and health or social issues in their communities.
The deadline for NCL’s district leaders to nominate Ticktockers is Jan. 29, 2020.
All Ticktockers will be officially announced on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020.
What are the Ticktockers doing?
February and March will be full of project planning and implementation for the Ticktockers!
On Feb. 5, Ticktockers will hold a virtual planning meeting to discuss initiatives and types of projects. That will be followed by virtual discussions throughout the month on Ticktockers’ projects.
During March, Ticktockers will focus on increasing awareness about nutrition and food access while continuing to work on their projects.
Ticktockers will make presentations on their projects at NCL’s national conference, April 22-24, where they’ll also be awarded certificates of participation.
Ticktockers will also work with community organizations to address health and wellness issues. They’ll have help and guidance from the EmPOWERED to Serve team, and they’ll have the opportunity to pursue professional development through AHA Heart U courses.
