What determines a person’s risk of developing diabetes?
Several factors can raise or lower a person’s risk of diabetes and prediabetes. Some risks can be reduced through changes in behavior, and some cannot. Even if you have risk factors that can’t be controlled, changing the ones that you can control can make a big difference.
Risk factors are just that – they changes the odds, but they do not dictate the outcome. In most cases of prediabetes, your choices are a key factor in your outcome.
