Director of Community Health – Baltimore City, MedStar Health
Moran oversees community and population health strategy for all three MedStar Health hospitals in Baltimore City, where he designs new approaches to coordinating care across the continuum, fosters community partnerships, and provides support to the regional behavioral health service line. Moran launched the system’s first implementation to screen patients for the social determinants of health in the electronic health record.
His innovative approach to public health practice works to connect patients that are victims of violence to community-based services, support faith institutions to manage the health of their congregations, and initiate prescriptions for patients to receive fresh produce deliveries in order to address food access. He was appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to serve on the Maryland State Community Health Worker Advisory Committee.
An active member of the Baltimore community, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Hampden Family Center, Baltimore Choral Arts Society and Greater Baybrook Alliance. He has received recognition for his leadership in the field of health services, including being named a Foster G. McGaw Scholar by the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2017, he was named one of The Daily Record’s Successful Before 40 – Very Important Professionals.
Moran holds bachelor’s degrees in public policy and business administration from the University of Charleston and a master’s in health services administration from Xavier University. He is a Doctor of Public Health candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
