NAACP Image Award-winning producer Sidra Smith is a force to be reckoned with. With more than 20 years of international experience in various aspects of film, television, documentaries, corporate events and advertising, she has become the go-to person for those companies and organizations in search of efficient and creative production services.
Smith has produced diverse shows and events for organizations like the American Heart Association, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Ford Foundation, Tides Foundation and Jazz at Lincoln Center, to name a few. She worked as a producer on several reality shows. In West Africa, she produced the Pan-African talk show “Time with David” and a series of documentaries on multinationals doing business in Africa.
Most recently, Smith received the NAACP Image Award for producing the documentary “Free Angela & All Political Prisoners,” an examination of the life and times of civil rights activist Angela Davis executive produced by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Jay-Z. “Free Angela” debuted at the Toronto Film Festival to critical acclaim and had a successful theatrical release through Lionsgate and AMC Theaters. She is currently producing Lionsgate’s dramatic Angela Davis biopic. She has also completed a five-episode digital mini-series called “A Luv Tale,” based on her award-winning 1999 film. It is an edgy romantic series that examines friendship among four queer women of color navigating their complex lives through a world of art, music, consciousness and love.
